About the Scholarship
Lonnie Holton graduated from Alma High School in 1965 and went on to obtain both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Northern Michigan University. He was a stand out athlete at both Alma and NMU, and is a member of both Athletic Halls of Fame. At NMU, Lonnie was a three time All-American in football and set many records in that sport. He recognized the positive impact that playing sports and learning teamwork can have on a young person, which was a major reason for his desire to set up a scholarship fund for Alma High School athletes.Â
