About the Scholarship
he Leo 'Bud' and Janet Goodyear Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by his family in memory of Bud's commitment to the farming community of Breckenridge. This scholarship assists Breckenridge High School seniors looking to further their education in an agricultural field of study.
Bud grew up on a family farm north of St. Louis. In 1955, he and Janet, along with their family moved to Breckenridge where he was employed at Farmers State Bank. After many years of various jobs and responsibilities, Bud became President and CEO of Farmers State Bank. Bud was active during his years in the Breckenridge community as a member of Rotary, United Methodist Church, Mayor, B & W Co-Op Board and Coach for Little League teams. Bud was active in many other organizations throughout Gratiot County. He served the community of Breckenridge and understood what the farming industry meant to Gratiot County.
